Wudang Kung Fu Master Qingfengzi

Qingfengzi, Dean of China Wudang Mountain Wudao Kung Fu Academy

Master Qingfengzi (styled as Weihua, Yuchen, and Gaorui) is a native of Yichang, Hubei Province. As a highly respected Wudang Kung Fu master, he is the 16th-generation inheritor of the Wudang Xuanwu Sect and a major inheritor of Wudang Wushu, a national intangible cultural heritage.

Recognized globally as a world champion of tai chi, he entered the fairy peaks of Wudang Mountain to practice martial arts and Taoism since childhood under the tutelage of Taoist Tian Liyang, a senior Taoist of Wudang. He is exceptionally skilled in Wudang Tai Chi, Xingyi Quan, Bagua Zhang, and specialized Wudang sword training, alongside various exotic weapons of the Wudang Sect. He is especially outstanding in Wudang Neijia’s unique skills, Wudang Five Elements Internal Skill (Erzhi Xuan Gong standing on two fingers), and Tizong Shu (Qinggong or acrobatic jumping).

Early Years and Core Mastery

He started practicing martial arts in his childhood, experiencing all kinds of human life and going through countless hardships before achieving true enlightenment. Chinese martial arts have a long history with numerous schools, among which Shaolin and Wudang are the most prestigious and orthodox, holding an orderly inheritance and clear origin. Entering this prestigious school since childhood, Wudang Kung Fu Master Qingfengzi learned directly from a grandmaster to obtain true knowledge. Enjoying hard practice, he achieved deep enlightenment and understood the great Tao. In his youth, alongside elite disciples of the Shaolin Sect, he followed national leaders to visit locations all over the world to spread Chinese martial arts.

Lineage and Global Propagation

He tied his fate to the top of Wudang Mountain to study Tai Chi, gaining a thorough understanding of peerless, unique skills and spreading Wudao culture. Combining innate wisdom for practicing martial arts with the firm will of a rock, he stands as a direct inheritor of the Wudang Xuanwu Sect and a master of true Tai Chi skills. He takes helping the poor as his mission, public welfare as his duty, and carrying forward traditional culture as his honor.

Since ancient times, the Wudang Sect has maintained strict rules, keeping its kung fu secret. However, Wudang Kung Fu Master Qingfengzi persisted, learning modestly and passing his master’s tests over a long period. Influenced by Taoist culture, he tirelessly learned from old Taoist priests, making breakthroughs in martial arts and skills. Based on his love for Wudang culture and Wudang Neijia Kung Fu, he regards spreading Wudang Wushu to the world as his personal responsibility. He has participated in the International Wudang Wushu Festival and represented the Wudang Sect on visits to Europe, South Asia, South Korea, and Japan. His execution of Bagua Xiaoyao Zhang during bagua practice is famously smooth, moving like flowing clouds and water.

Artistry and Character

In his spare time away from physical training, he enjoys reading and calligraphy. Because he never stops practicing, his calligraphy is like the pine trees on Huangshan Mountain, smooth, flowing, and imbued with the emptiness, remoteness, and calm of Lao Zhuang, alongside his own perseverance and enterprising spirit. Just as the saying goes, “the writing mirrors the writer,” he remains calm and wise, behaving as good as water, benefiting all things without striving.

History of Wudao (Martial Taoism)

Wudao represents the absolute unity of Kungfu and Taoism.

• 2007: Founded the Wudao Kung Fu Hall in the Wudang Mountain Scenic Area to teach traditional forms, including detailed wudang sword training and bagua practice.

• 2012: Founded the Beijing Branch of Wudao Kung Fu Hall in Shichahai, Beijing.

• Since 2012: Launched “Wudang Tai Chi Entering the Community,” covering 16 communities in the Shichahai Sub-district.

• November 2014: Taught Wudang Kung Fu and Wushu Xinfa in Dalian, Liaoning.

• 2015: Founded the Wudao Kung Fu Academy in Yidu, setting up a public welfare Tai Chi class.

• 2015: Received the Lu (Taoist ordination certificate) at Longhu Mountain, Jiangxi.
