Wudang Kung Fu Performance Troupe
Wudang Kung Fu Performance Troupe
The Wudang Kung Fu Performance Troupe of China is a professional artistic group established by the Wudang Mountain Special Zone Administration, specializing in authentic performance martial arts. As the premier Wudang Kung Fu performance troupe, it brings together elite disciples and inheritors of Wudang Kung fu. It stands as the only official professional organization representing Wudang Mountain’s legacy. Adhering to the mission of inheriting civilization and promoting the nation’s cultural essence, the troupe showcases Wudang in a dynamic, three-dimensional way, allowing global audiences to experience the profound benefits of ancient tradition.
The Philosophy Behind the Art
Wudang Mountain is world-renowned for its breathtaking natural scenery, ancient Taoist culture, magnificent architecture, and exquisite martial arts traditions. Recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1994, it remains a sacred destination for spiritual seekers worldwide.
Rooted deeply in Taoist philosophy, Wudang internal martial arts emphasize balance, harmony, Tai Chi, the Five Elements, the Nine Palaces, and the Eight Trigrams. The lineage prioritizes health cultivation and self-preservation over combat, advocating the principle of overcoming hardness with softness and “using four ounces to deflect a thousand pounds.”
For over 600 years, strict Taoist traditions kept these secret internal practices hidden from the outside world. Today, the wudang kung fu performance troupe brings these once-secret internal techniques to life through an extraordinary kung fu stage show. By combining authentic form with artistic choreography, the troupe achieves a perfect balance between martial skill and stagecraft, crafting an elegant kung fu dance performance that appeals to audiences of all backgrounds.
